Last week, Paris hosted the fourth edition of the EFMD Re-thinking Internationalisation Workshop, bringing together representatives from 26 higher education institutions from around the world to explore the future of internationalisation in higher education. Among the participants was Ihor Okuniev, Associate Professor of the Department of Management and Innovative Development at KROK Business School.
This year’s workshop focused on emerging approaches to internationalisation in the context of global transformation. Participants examined how internationalisation strategies are being reshaped by evolving institutional missions, growing societal expectations, and the increasing need to create measurable public value.
Particular attention was given to three key challenges currently shaping international education: demographic change, rapid technological advancement, and a prolonged period of global uncertainty. Experts emphasized that contemporary internationalisation should be driven not by scale alone, but by its alignment with an institution’s mission, available capacities, and contribution to society.
The workshop brought together professionals representing 26 higher education institutions, 20 nationalities, and four continents, creating a truly international environment for exchanging experiences, perspectives, and best practices.
The participation of a KROK Business School representative in EFMD events is an important step in strengthening international cooperation and further integrating the School into the global academic and business education community. The knowledge gained and professional connections established during the workshop will contribute to the enhancement of international initiatives and the development of innovative educational programmes in line with global best practices.
The organisers expressed their gratitude to the workshop host, ESSCA School of Management, as well as to the speakers and facilitators who contributed to insightful discussions on the future of international higher education.
