Kateryna Narovska

Certified Mediator, Mediator Trainer and Supervisor, Facilitator. Master in Law.

Specialization in mediation: family conflicts, labor and organizational conflicts, commercial and business disputes, healthcare conflicts, conflicts with the participation of children.

Kateryna is a co-founder, honorary member, president of the NGO "National Association of Mediators of Ukraine" (NAMU). Mediator-volunteer in the Children's City Center.Partner "Sense 2 Sense Communication" group.

Graduated with honors from the Faculty of Law of Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University (Master of Law, 2002). Specialization: civil, family, medical law. She has an experience in teaching in high school institutions, analytical research, draft law work; she also has publications in the field of law and mediation.

She was trained as a mediator at the School of Mediation of the Academy of Advocacy of Ukraine (2012) and studied with specialists from Great Britain and Germany at training sessions on professional supervision in mediation and direct counseling with children in mediation. Participated in trainings, seminars, and expert meetings on mediation in international family disputes, implementation of European standards on mediation in the legislation of Ukraine, mediation standards as a basis for dialogue practices, many other similar events on mediation issues, facilitation, dialogue, and Nonviolent Communication (NVC).

Actively collaborates with various government agencies and non-government organizations on implementation of alternative methods for resolving conflicts (disputes), with the Coordination Center for the provision of legal assistance. She participated as an expert, facilitator, trainer in events and mediation / dialogue / communication projects conducted by international institutions (UNDP, OSCE, USAID, IREX, GIZ). She is a co-developer of the training course "Practical application of mediation" for the National School of Judges of Ukraine and the document "Basic principles of teaching basic skills of a mediator" in cooperation with the USAID "Fair Justice" project. In 2017 she was included in the OSCE Network of Experts on Dialogue / Mediation Support in Social Conflict.In 2019 she co-authored a textbook forLawyers "Mediation in the professional activity of a lawyer", and in 2020 - the document "Principles training in the basic skills of a family mediator". Currently, she is the national coordinator for ethical standards and mediation mechanisms in the NAMU project “Strengthening the voice of mediators for quality services on dispute resolutions for communities in Ukraine” with the support of The Matra Program of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, in particular, she is a co-developer of the new version of the Code of Professional Ethics for a mediator.

From February 2012 to June 2017 Kateryna headed the Institute for Advanced Studies at the Academy of Advocacy of Ukraine, where she also has overseen the Mediation School development. Kateryna has experience in developing, organizing, and conducting trainings on basic mediator skills and family mediation during divorce, information sessions for lawyers, presentations for various groups and public speeches on scientific and practical issues of alternative dispute resolution, ADR.

Actively educates young people and adults in various aspects of law, mediation, and other ADR methods.

Member and moderator of working groups and round tables at the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine and other state and local governments, international projects, and research institutions. In particular, she took part in the development of the Law of Ukraine "On Mediation", the new edition of the State Standard of Mediation Social Services.
