I started training on the Mediation and Conflict Management Magister program at KROK Business School in the fall of 2019. The decision to go to school was a conscious one. Before applying, I carefully studied all the programs that are on the Ukrainian market. In KROK Business School program, the key was the presence of a European component, and therefore international experience, which I consider very important. It is in the world and Europe that mediation already has more than 30 years of practical experience in application.

The master's program of study takes more than a year and this is her second plus. I consider it an illusion that short trainings for several days allow you to master a new profession or specialty. The format is also convenient for working people, a month passes between the modules and this is enough time for the "previous portion of new information" to be arranged in your head, and new skills begin to become native.

And the third main plus of the program is super-instructors, practitioners. Me, as a person with experience in business, particularly appreciated the course of Oleg Triboy, Galina Sasin, Anna Zubacheva and Svetlana Stadnik. Another plus of the program is a lot of practical testing of the elements of mediation and simulation practices.

In Ukraine, mediation is in the process of evolution, and I am glad that thanks to the training program I can be in the hundred of the first people who received a master's degree in new specialization.

It is no secret that there are several daily mediation courses. Some of my friends even went through similar ones. My friend, who showed much more interest in the topic of mediation than I, told me about the Mediation and Conflict Resolution program. I got acquainted with the course program and realized that it is hardly possible to expect a more complete and thorough mediation course in Ukraine in the near future.

Expectations regarding the completeness of the course and the thoroughness of the approach were fully justified and even abundant. I was very pleased with the amount of practice and the degree of personal involvement of each participant in the development of practical skills. If to compare with sports, then contact martial arts are closest - the training period immediately follows application in conditions close to combat. This makes it possible to really assess their strengths, capabilities and competencies, as well as develop a real basic willingness to participate in the mediation process. On the one hand, it is stress, overcoming oneself, and on the other, a feeling of deep satisfaction when you see your results in practice.

The main insight is related to the essence of the mediator and the mediation process, with the fact that mediation is not another alternative arbitration, it is not about imperative directives and not about voluntary decisions. Mediation is about creating an environment in which the appearance of a decision, its adoption by the parties and voluntary implementation is possible. The essence of the mediator is not in knowledge of the law, judicial practice and common sense, but in facilitation and reassurance.

I connect career prospects and participation in the program through the ability to apply the acquired competencies in the process of team management. I saw professional leaders who were unable to agree with their subordinates, despite their status and authority, and failed. And he saw leaders who, with apparent softness, enlisted the support of their subordinates, rallied the team, and achieved success. From the perspective of my current experience and knowledge gained in the program, I can confidently say that a significant share of the leader’s success lies in the ability to eliminate friction in the team, promote consensus, and synergy. Such results can undoubtedly be achieved by using mediation techniques. This is what I plan to do to achieve my career goals.

In November 2019, I was fortunate enough to get acquainted with the KROK Business School and start studying at the Master's program in Mediation and Conflict Management, which is supported by the European Union as part of the Erasmus + Mediats program. Over the course of 6 months, we have mastered 5 fundamental training modules and gained important and useful knowledge on the history of mediation, the theory and practice of mediation, studied the models, styles, stages and principles of mediation, gained skills in the practical application of mediation in specific cases, learned the principles of effective communication, tools emotional competence and means of visual psychodiagnostics. And it’s so cool that now you can get an academic education in a training format, which harmoniously combines theoretical material with practical exercises, simulation, games, interesting cases and constant feedback. Thanks to the highly professional teachers united by the KROK Business School, we have the opportunity to gain the experience of renowned mediation specialists and dive deep into the best teaching practices that will help us understand the art of mediation.

We are inspired from meaningful and productive meetings, the transfer of experience and knowledge that wings give us.

I am sincerely grateful to the colleagues, teachers and the friendly community of CROC Business School for the opportunity to gain this experience.
